On Monday 26 July 2021 (6 pm, London time Zone; 2 pm, Brasilia time zone), Professor Richard SEAFORD of the University of Exeter will deliver an online lecture on Politics and Mystery-cult in Euripides’ Bacchae‘.

Richard Seaford is Emeritus Professor of Ancient Greek at the University of Exeter. His books include commentaries on Euripides’ Cyclops and on Euripides’ Bacchae, as well as Reciprocity and Ritual (Oxford, 1994), Dionysos (Routledge, 2006), Money and the Early Greek Mind (Cambridge, 2004), Cosmology and the Polis (Cambridge, 2012), and The Origins of Philosophy in Ancient Greece and Ancient India: A Historical Comparison’ (Cambridge, 2019).

This is a free event organised by Instituto Mundo Antigo (Ancient World Institute) and Grupo de Estudos do Mundo Antigo (GEMUNA) (The Ancient World Study Group), a member of the Center for Research in History at the Pontifical Catholic University of Goiás, Brazil.
